Music Company Founded by Dr. Luke Enables Bitcoin Payments for Songwriters and Producers

Bitcoin adoption is not limited to celebrities supporting the crypto currency through social media or TV interviews. The music industry also wants to jump on the bandwagon. An independent publisher recently approved bitcoin payments.

Introduction of bitcoin in response tosongwriters’ demand for a prescription

According to Variety, Prescription Songs, founded by Dr. Luke (Lukasz Sebastian Gottwald), now offers its producers and songwriters the ability to send payments in bitcoins (BTC). This feature is made possible through a partnership with cryptocurrency payment provider Bitpay.

Dr. Luke is a renowned hitmaker in the industry with a catalog of released hits including Say So Dodgy Kat, Don’t Start Now Dua Lipa, Teenage Dream Katy Perry, Since U Been Gone Kelly Clarkson, Party In The U.S.A. Miley Cyrus, Moves Like Jagger Maroon 5, Starboy The Weeknd and Juice Lizzo.

According to Luke – who has been in the industry for over 20 years and is not immune to controversy – the creators of Prescription Songs are actively asking him to include a bitcoin payment option:

Prescription Songs has always been at the forefront of the industry to provide the best service to its songwriters, producers and artists. Some of our creators have asked us to be able to pay in bitcoins. So we wanted to get ahead of the game and offer this service. Bitpay is one of those forces in the bitcoin world. I am looking forward to working with them in the music business.

This is not Dr. Luke’s first cryptocurrency-focused business move.

Moreover, Sonny Singh, commercial director of Bitpay, believes that the use of BTC is just the first step in the music industry’s entry into the blockchain space, hailing the growing adoption of non-displayable tokens (NFTs):

Prescription Songs and Dr. Luke have always been innovative with their artists and songwriters, and by allowing them to receive royalties on Bitcoin, they are once again showing how innovative they are.

But Dr. Luke was no stranger to crypto and blockchain. He was an early investor in the North American Blockchain company that mines digital assets.
